Most of these schools offer courses in acting, production, playwriting and directing. For anyone expecting to get enrolled in one of the many schools offering drama classes, it is important to have an idea of what to expect and how to evaluate a school before entering.

For the majority of the schools that can be found around, entry is mostly by auditioning. Applicants are provided with at least two monologues one of which can be Shakespearean and the other contemporary. Given that there are many aspirants hoping to become tomorrow's most successful actor or actress, the number of applicants are high. However, for most of the schools, the number of successful candidates is low with most of them having at most two successful applicants out of one hundred who applied. That is to show that the schools are best on getting only the best right at the preliminary stage. This is quite understandable given that to be able to make a name; graduates from any one particular school should be well recognized in the acting industry. By getting only the best at the start, the different schools are actually planning for success.

Most drama classes will help prepare their students for the stage and the camera but when it comes to acting in big movies, a bit of extra classes becomes necessary. To help their students land great roles, most schools of drama will organize different performances throughout the final year.

These performances are attended by top film agents and casting directors that have been invited by the school authorities. The rationeale is to be able to show the talents that the school is producing. While this helps to improve career opportunities for the future graduates, it also helps promote the credibility of the school.

For most aspiring students, it is important to read reviews on the best school for acting and who what the general feeling towards the school is in the industry. Synopsis
Devilman Vol.2. The Demon Bird takes place a few years after the first OVA Volume, The Birth. Akira Fudou is now out of high school and a couple of years older. His best friend Ryou Asuka has recovered from his near fatal wounds.

Akira is lured into the demon, Jinmen's hideaway only to be emotionally tortured by him. Jinmen stuns Akira with the fact that he killed and ate his parents.

After tearing apart the demon Jinmen, Akira is ambushed at his temporary home where he lives with the family of his girlfriend, Miki Makimura.

Akira saves Miki from an attack by a demon made of water called Ghelmer. It is not long till Akira's bird like demon antagonist, Sirene arrives to battle Devilman to the death.

The Review
Devilman Vol.2 OVA – The Demon Bird is much improved over its predecessor, The Birth. The character and story development has already been introduced to us in the first OVA volume. Devilman The Demon Bird gets right to the point with the action and horror starting right away.

The animation looks a lot better since this anime was released in 1990. The characters look more mature and do not have that 80's type cutesy anime design to them. Vol.2 has a much darker anime style to it.

Akira Fudou no longer looks like an innocent kid and now is buffed up and ready to kick ass. The animation although great for the time pales in comparison to today's.

I also like that the demons featured in Devilman Vol.2 OVA – The Demon Bird looks more horrific than in the first one. The turtle like amphibious demon, Jinmen is really creepy looking. His shell is covered with the faces of people he has eaten and now tortures their trapped souls.

The harpy looking Sirene looks really cool. She has a nude body of a woman covered with white bird feathers. Her head has an antenna and big wings. She also has huge bird feet with talons for hands / feet.

The fight scenes are even more intense as limbs are torn apart with blood and gore spraying all over the place. There is some brief character development for Akira's opponent, Sirene in the anime.

She has a grudge to settle with Akira / Devilman, because she hates any demon who joins with a human. She wanted to make an example out of him by killing him.

Devilman's fight in the second half of the OVA with Sirene The Demon Bird is very intense, brutal, and entertaining. Devilman uses his flying ability in this one as he engages Sirene in battle in the skies.

They go back and forth in a slugfest as they both lose a lot of blood and some limbs. I'm not going to tell you the ending, but Devilman meets his match with the Sirene demon.

The hair metal music from the first one makes its return and some melancholy background music is added as well to this OVA.

The one thing I found disappointing with this follow up is that Ryou Asuka does not get much screen time. This is a fast paced action packed anime that you will not get bored watching.

A word of warning it is not for children since it has profanity, nudity, and lots of graphic violence.

Devilman is a cool anti-hero and the entertaining anime series and OVA's make the anime's he featured in cult classics.

Devilman OVA Vol.1 – The Birth Review

Synopsis Devilman tells the story of Akira Fudou an ordinary high school student. Synopsis
Devilman tells the story of Akira Fudou an ordinary high school student. He gets the shock of his life when his former classmate, Ryou Asuka appears out of nowhere saving him and his girlfriend, Miki Makimura from bullies by pulling a gun on them. Ryou tells Akira a dark secret.

Ryou's dad committed suicide after becoming possessed by a demon. His father left him a letter saying in order to defeat the oncoming invasion of demons from hell, you must become a demon yourself. Ryou shows Akira an ancient mask of a demon and Akira puts it on. Akira has a vision of a time when demons ruled the earth and humankind did not exist.

After fighting off an attack by some demons, Ryou tells Akira he must have possessed a demon in order to defeat the demons. Ryou tells Akira since he is pure of heart he can resist the demons control over his mind, but if the demon takes over then he will have to commit suicide.

They descend down an elevator into a nightclub which is also a demon ritual and almost everyone gets owned. Akira Fudou soon becomes possessed by the demon known as Amon. Amon is the god of war in hell and blessed with incredible strength and powers. Akira becomes Devilman and has complete control over his powers so he can save the human race.

Devilman OVA Vol.1 Review Section

Devilman is an anime I first watched in the mid 90's when I was ordering my anime through a mail order catalog from Central Park Media.

Central Park Media distributed many adult oriented anime on VHS and Laserdisc formats to the North American market in those days. The Devilman OVA's were one of the many violent adult titles licensed in America at the time.

It was also shown on the Sci-Fi Cable Network when they used to have anime marathons. Devilman Vol.1 The Birth is kind of strange on how the simple, but effective plot plays out.

Apart from the bizarre opening and the brief scene where Ryou and Akira gets attacked by a couple of demons early on. The majority of this OVA episode is dialogue driven drama. The violence and blood do not really come till the club scene.

There is some nudity involving just breast flashing, but no sex in it. The animation quality is good for it's time. Devilman The Birth OVA feature's vivid colors through. The OVA has mythology and biblical references.

The music played in the club at the end is very cool. It may sound cheesy to some, because it's 80's guitar driven rock. I have watched both the original Japanese with English subtitles and the dubbed version.

The dubbed English version has bad voice actors. The violence at the end of the OVA is very messy as Akira slices, punches, and tears apart all the demons in the club. Expect a lot of blood and gore in the chaotic climax.

The two characters Akira and Ryou are very cool. I especially like Ryou's entrance. He just comes out of the woods with some dark haunting music playing in the background. You do not know if he is or good or evil.

The demons in Devilman all have frightening unique designs to them. Some of them look more alien than demon. The demons featured in this OVA Episode merge with animals or humans to become even more powerful.

Akira Fuduo looks badass as Devilman, the anti-hero. The slow pace build up to the action might turn some people away.

It gets a lot better with the next OVA episode, Devilman Vol.2 Demon Bird. The violence, gore, and intensity is turned up several notches as Devilman is in the fight for his life. The Devilman anime is not for children since it contains graphic violence, strong language, and gratuitous nudity.

Anime is very popular in Asian culture. It has also spread its popularity in other countries such as the United States, parts of Europe and South America.

Some of the most popular anime are action and fantasy type anime. I am going to introduce you the most popular ones at this moment.

Naruto Shippudden

This anime is still on going as the time of writing, but I believe it is about to get to the end stages. This anime is about the story of a young boy named Naruto, who was looked down upon because he was sealed with the nine-tails demon fox that destroyed the Konoha village. He grew up trying to win approval from his village. One day, he vows to become the Hokage of the village and gain respect from his peers. Fast forward, we have Naruto Shippudden, where he is all grown up and ready to tackle the most powerful enemy in the series, Uchuha Madara. As much as I love this anime, the only complain I have is the amount of fillers. Other than that, it is a great anime full of cool fighting scenes and comedy.

Death Note

Meet Light Yagami, the self-proclaimed justice ruler. In this psychological, suspense and thriller anime, a Shinigami called Ryuk dropped a supernatural note book known as the “Death Note”. Light finds this book and realizes he could kill anyone if he knew his face plus name and wrote down the person's name in the note book. With this new found power, he creates his own twisted sense of justice and it is up to a special detective to stop this madness!

Code Geass

With a combination of mecha, action and thriller instilled in this brilliant anime, it is no surprise this is a big hit amongst anime fans. Japan has been invaded by Britannia and is colonized by them. Lelouch is a Britannia prince that was thrown into Japan as a bargaining chip after her mother was killed. As a result, her sister Nunnally becomes blind and is wheelchair bound because of this. Lelouch then vows to get his revenge. With the help of an unexpected incident, Lelouch gains the power of the “Geass”, where he can control one of movement against their will with eye contact for one time. It is then plans his uprising against the Britannia Empire.

Conclusion

These 3 anime are rather popular among many anime fans. If you are new to anime, I highly suggest that you watch the above anime. I guarantee you that you will like at least one of these. If you can always look out other genres of anime that is available out there.

The Term Defines:

Did we think animation can be on top of the world dictating terms in every industry some years ago? Though its direct impact may not be visible in certain industries, but it certainly plays an invisible hand in that. By the word, animation speaks to the act of giving life. Technically, it is a creation of illusion of movement by rapid display of a sequence of images or drawings. This can be done either with hand-made art, computer generated imagery, three-dimensional objects or a combination of techniques. Much of the credit goes to the advent of computer technologies that have been helping us to create 2D and 3D animations from the beginning. It has significantly cut down the labor and time, thereby, reducing the cost associated with it.

Not surprisingly, the phenomenon of motion was well explained long before in the palaeolithic cave paintings, where animals are populated with multiple legs in superimposed positions to give a clear picture for the flow of motion. But today, we are able to cut fine all these motion flow in the form of 2D and 3D formats. Right from cartoons on TV to animated feature films, we take the help of these formats. The power of animation can be honestly understood in commercials, infomercials, e-cards, etc. Vodafone zoo zoo ads, which are critically acclaimed serves as the best example for current trend.

Various Techniques Include:

2D relies on vector graphics. It means they comply with certain mathematical equations. Similar to 2D is 3D, which deals with the creation of moving pictures in 3 dimensional digital environment. Of late, 3D has been the lifeline in most of these projects. There are good number of 3D animated films in the industry such as Avatar, Ice Age, The Incredibles, Rio, Madagascar, A bug's life, Ratatouille, etc., where you can sense all the difference from 2D films. Both 2D and 3D come under computer animation techniques.

Other famous techniques include Traditional, Full, Limited, Rotoscoping, Live-action / animation, Puppet, Clay, Cutout, Silhouette, Model animation, Go motion, Object, Graphic, Brickfilm, and Pixilation. These techniques only suggest a greater scope of exploration in animation. To give it a credit, two remarkable awards are earmarked namely:

  1. Academy award for best animated feature
  2. Academy award for best animated short film

Therefore, it can be concluded that the world of animation has a long way to go and form a rich source of money for them who will have taken it as their career path.

If you want to learn how to make a whiteboard animation professionally, you have to use proper camera settings and setup. There is no standard formula for setting your camera since each production differs in a number of ways. For the most part, it is a trial and error process, where you keep adjusting your settings until you have them right.

Numerous settings on your camera can affect the quality of lighting of your whiteboard animation and its overall quality. However, you only need to pay attention to the ones that matter the most.

The first thing you bought to do is connect your camera to a PC to test your settings. Alternately, you can use your SD card for a quick test on your screen. While setting up the camera, you need to keep several things in mind.

First, your whiteboard displays an even white color on the screen. The talent has the color of natural skin. Your black is as black as possible and your white is as white as it gets. Here are three steps to help you achieve proper settings for your camera before you begin:

1. Make a gray card – The first step is to make a gray card. This will serve as your reference point to enable you to determine your video's exposure. Later on when you begin post-processing, the gray object will enable you to obtain a consistent exposure all through. For best results, make a card with a gray and black area, and take a shot of it prior to filming.

2. Set ISO, White Balance, Exposure and Aperture – If you want to make a professional video, you should not use the auto settings in the camera. It is best to have your own settings of the ISO, exposure, white balance and aperture. Try out different combinations until you get it right.

If you get tired doing this step keep in mind that you will be happy during the post-processing. Get as much light as possible into the lens and set the aperture as low as you can. An ISO of 100 to 400 will do great.

3. Examine the colors on screen – Once you have made a few test shots, it is time to see how they look on screen. Simply load all the test shots on to your PC and take a closer look. Check for all the things you need for a perfect animation. Practice until you have the perfect animation.

How To Set Up The Lighting For A Whiteboard Video

Certainly, a whiteboard animation comes in handy when you want to explain something to someone that you cannot illustrate using words. It can be a concept or idea, which might be hard to transfer by mere words. A whiteboard animation is an excellent tool of sharing knowledge and thoughts.

Filming And Post-Processing Your Whiteboard Animation – What You Should Know

If you wish to make a white board animation to present a great idea or concept to a group of investors, you must learn to do it professionally. Certainly, learning how to make whiteboard animations in a professional way is not easy.

You have to set up the lighting properly as well as use the right camera with the right camera settings. Normally, you can overcome these hurdles but the challenge comes during the last two phases of production, which are filming and post-processing.

Filming

Once you have set up the lighting and proper camera setting, you are ready to start filming. Assume the role of a director and allow your story to unfold to make the animation shine. Use a tape of any other color apart from white to make a frame on your whiteboard.

This prevents your talent from drawing out of screen. You should mark where the center of your frame is. Since the talent is close to the whiteboard, it can be tough to get a good composition.

Prior to filming, make a shot of the gray card, you made while setting the camera. Your talent may be holding pieces of paper with example drawings. Ensure that this do not appear in your camera. Ensure that there is no one standing in front of the lights since the shadows can be very distracting.

Film everything even when your talent wipes out drawings. Stay focused, while helping your talent with the animation's sequence. The lights will make the room hot and everyone's energy will be low so make jokes to keep everyone fresh.

Post-processing

This is the last step in your whiteboard animation production. It is best to use the settings of an excellent movie editing software such as Adobe After Effects or Final Cut Pro to cross the T's and dot the I's. Determine your white color with a digital color meter as well as checking the whiteboard.

Determine also your black color similar to the white color but now checking the shots of your gray card. Keep adjusting the saturation, color and exposure settings to make this happen.

An important aspect of making the whiteboard animation is the audio. While recording your audio, make sure that there is no background noise. You must make sure that you have set the audio to the right volume. Find someone with a good voice to tell your story. Let the voice go hand in hand with your presentation on the whiteboard.

As soon as children start learning about the Stone Age and pre-historical times, it is quite common for children to pick up a fascination with dinosaurs. For some of these children, they carry this fascination all the way into adulthood and become scientists, explorers, and pick up other professions that give them an opportunity to learn more about these fascinating giants of the past. But the truth is, not everyone can freely choose a profession in the fields that allow them to indulge their fascination with dinosaurs, and this is where animatronics can come in to help them get closer to the creatures of their fancy.

Probably one of the reasons why a lot of people are fascinated with these creatures is because of the fact that these no longer exist. Another reason that is for sure would be the fact that most of these pre-historical creatures could grow up to immense sizes that can even dwarf a London double deck bus.

Animatronics is actually a safe way to bring dinosaurs back to life. Imagine if dinosaurs are still around today. Civilization as we know it would most likely be very different because we humans would be in constant fear of getting attacked by these gigantic creatures. Through animatronics, we can indulge our fancy with these pre-historical animals safely, and get a good idea of what these would be like if these were still around today.

An animatronic dinosaur is a great way for both the young and old to interact with pre-historic creatures. Through robotic and electronic technologies, engineers are able to make these fascinating creatures come to life. Years ago, these used to be limited to big budgeted movies and large theme parks, and more recently, some museums are now having some animated dinosaurs on display for the enjoyment of both young and old.

The technology for making life-like dinosaurs is slowly becoming more accessible to a lot of people. This is a good thing because more and more people who have a great interest in these pre-historic creatures can have an experience of being able to see one up close and in life-like motion. It is all thanks to the advances in modern technology that engineers are able to create robotic replicas of dinosaurs that everyone can enjoy viewing and interacting with – without having to worry about getting eaten by a pre-historic carnivore or getting squashed by a gentle giant.

So what exactly is the difference between Multimedia and Animation?

The word multimedia is, in itself, explanatory. It refers to the practice of using multiple forms of media, which may or may not include animation, simultaneously, within a given product or project. Multimedia products will often combine text, still images, video, film, animation and sound within one package.

Multimedia products are often interactive in nature and can only generally be created on, and accessed by, a computing device.

Multimedia now encompasses a wide array of products, projects and services. Familiar examples are the Computer Based Training courses (CBT's) used in education or the typical instructional CD-ROMs so often preferred by the learner driver.

The CV of an artist for example, containing, a headshot, biography and a portfolio of work, which is then burned to, and delivered on CD-rom, would also be considered multimedia in nature and multimedia is very often used in the corporate setting in the form of presentations.

Even the video gaming enthusiast is not immune to the onslaught of the multimedia revolution as he or she battles within the evermore complex multi-player gaming arena known as MMORPGs.

One of the most important features of the multimedia product or service is that it is more often than not, interactive in nature. The learner driver training CD mentioned previously would be a prime example as it would require the user to engage with the content through.

This type of educational platform also serves as a classic example of the non-linear forms of multimedia which requires interaction and input from the user over the control and delivery of the content. Multimedia in its linear form – a simple example being Cinema – offers little or no scope for such interaction or control.

The use of the term multimedia has changed over the years and it was only during the 90's that it acquired its current meaning. Multimedia can be live or pre-recorded and with the advent of computer tablets, smart phones, advanced gaming platforms and the like, multimedia is now an all pervasive force.

Animation on the other hand is a 'specific cinematic medium' which often utilizes hundreds, sometimes thousands of still images. These images are combined in sequence over a specific time period (cinematically speaking) typically 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. When these images, which will all vary slowly from one another, are recorded and replayed in rapid succuction, they create the illusion of movement.

Animations can be 2D or 3D. Can be hand drawn or computer generated. Involve clay models, puppets, shadows or cut-outs. Some animation may involve all these elements and more. Good cinematic examples of 3D animations are Toy Story, Shrek, The Incredibles and The Croods.

3D animation is a very complex area with a terminology that is entirely its own. Essentially 3D animation starts with the creation or modeling of a 3D mesh of the object or character to be created. The mesh can then be refined by the modeller before being rigged and programmed for movement. 3D animation does require some basic drawing skills at least, is very technical, and relies heavily on the use of 3D textures and lighting.

Traditional 2D animation on the other hand involved the processing of thousands of individual images copied from original paper drawings onto transparent acetates known as Cels. Each Cel was then carefully colored and set against a painted background before being photographed one by one with the aid of a rostrum camera.

This method of film-making bought us classics such as Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, 101 Dalmatians and the Lady and the Tramp.

Stopmotion animation is similar to the above the only difference being that a physical object such as a doll or puppet will appear to move on its own when it is manipulated bit by bit between photographed frames.

Nowadays the process of animation is much less cumbersome as much animation is created and edited on computers using vector or bitmap images with sophisticated software used for coloring and camera movement.

Usefulness of Illustrations

Illustration in simple terms is the rendition of any idea, concept, or written content in the form of art. Illustration in simple terms is the rendition of any idea, concept, or written content in the form of art. These days, the importance of illustrations as well as 3D illustrations is highly regarded by publishers and editors, wanting to publish their contents on the internet space or magazines. Since good illustrations can grab attention quickly and can get deeply rooted in the minds of people, more and more writers today are opting illustrated art to complement their writings.

The use of illustrations is extensive in books for children since elaborate illustrations that accompanies the writing, stories, and poems are interesting and can make a huge positive impact on the children. Although, it is crucial for the illustrations to be of the highest quality and accuracy in order to provide a positive impact to the written contents. If the below standard illustrated arts are accompanied with the written contents, it will not procure the results that are expected. A perfect illustrated art, which can easily convey the right idea in the clearest manner, is the most vital aspect of any illustration. With the various forms of art, including sketches and drawings, an illustrator can enrich the concept of any piece of writing, whether it be a depiction of a story for children's book or a representation of a theory for physics or science writing.

The most notable aspect of an illustrated art is that it can elucidate any written content in a drawing or two. The readers can have a good understanding of the context and they will not even have to go through the entire texts. 3D illustrations can play a big role in marketing and promoting products for various companies. Skilled illustrators will create 3D images of the products, which indeed can capture the attention of a mass audience. The viewers will be enthralled by an illustrated art more than any written contents. Beside, these days' people are very impatient reading the adverts; hence, a good 3D illustration will help convey all about the product and its features in a form of art to those impatient audiences. An illustrator with good skills and experience knows how to make a photorealistic image and at the same time keep it accurate and simple to understand.

The traces of illustrations as old as prehistoric cave paintings; however, still in this modern world, they play a critical part. They make people understand what is rather difficult to understand. They clarify and simplify concepts which are otherwise complex in nature.

Understanding Computer Animation

We all know what an animation is; although, technically defining the term, it is the process of creating an illusion of movement by showingcasing a set of drawings in a rapid and predefined sequence. We all know what an animation is; although, technically defining the term, it is the process of creating an illusion of movement by showingcasing a set of drawings in a rapid and predefined sequence. Animation has come a long way due to the advent of computer technologies. Traditional animations were hand drawings, but today, we have computer technology that helps create both 2D animations and 3D animations. Hand drawn animation required a great deal of efforts, and not to forget time and labor; however, due to the advent of computers, animation can be created by a single individual (animator), with a no big hassle.

These days, computer generated 2D animations can be found everywhere ranging from cartoons on TV to simple animated graphics that we see every day on the internet space. It can take a form of commercials, infomercials, e-cards, and so on. Although, whatever may be the form, it all starts from a storyboard, which simply is a basic script in a graphical format, much like a comic book strips. Sometimes, to complement a storyboard, a rough audio track is created just to give animators something to sync with their sketches. 2D animation entirely depends on “vector graphics,” meaning all the drawings created for are based on mathematical equations, unlike “raster graphic” that is purely based on a grid of pixels.

Somewhat similar to 2D, 3D animation is a process of creating moving pictures in a digital three-dimensional environment. 3D is something that automatically pops up in mind of people when they are speaking about computer animation. Although, what people do not realize is that animation industries, especially those dealing in motion pictures, only share a small portion of the 3D market.

Conversely speaking, there is only a thin line between traditional and computer generated animation. The only differences between both of them are the tools and efforts used in creating animated graphics, and the costs associated with the same. Traditional animations that were capable to give the perception of 3D were more like the clay animations, which were usually created using stop motion technique. It was not until the use of computers, when the term 3D gained popularity.

Entertainment industry is largely accountable for the advancement of 3D animation though, they only make a fraction of the market that is using 3D. Animation these days, both traditional and computer generated are largely used for marketing and teaching purposes since it makes information simple, attractive, and easy to understand.
